Southern Railway has approved lift-on and lift-off operations for containers at Tiruchi Goods Yard, enabling the transfer of containers between road vehicles and railway wagons using suitable handling equipment. The move is expected to create new opportunities for businesses and logistics operators to use rail transport for container freight in the region.
According to a press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division, the approval marks an important milestone in its efforts to expand freight business, attract new traffic and strengthen the role of railways in providing efficient logistics solutions.
