Cochin Shipyard delivers MS Heinz, a versatile 7,000 DWT cargo vessel, to Germany’s HS Schiffahrts for global operations.

Cochin Shipyard has successfully handed over a versatile 7,000 DWT cargo carrier to Germany-based HS Schiffahrts. Named Heinz, this vessel is the first in a series of eight eco-friendly freighters designed for international trade.
The ship is engineered to transport a diverse range of commodities, including heavy project cargo, steel coils, timber, and paper. It is also equipped to carry dry bulk goods like coal and grain, alongside containers and hazardous materials. A key feature of the vessel is its adaptable cargo hold, which uses movable panels and a tween deck system to allow for various loading configurations.
It is developed with a specialised cross-bow design to improve fuel efficiency.This delivery highlights the growing role of Indian shipbuilding in supporting the global logistics and maritime freight sectors.
