Delhivery launches Freight Index One, offering real-time and forward pricing data to boost planning and transparency in trucking.

India’s trucking sector, long challenged by fluctuating freight rates and limited data, is set to receive a transparency boost. Logistics major Delhivery has launched Freight Index One, a new platform offering historical, real-time and forward estimates for full truckload (FTL) freight pricing across major lanes.
For decades, transporters, fleet owners and shippers in India have operated without access to standardised indicators like the Cass Freight Index or Freightos Baltic Index (FBX), commonly used overseas. As a result, sudden cost spikes, seasonal disruptions and routing uncertainties often left logistics players guessing.
Freight Index One aims to change that.
Built on nearly ten years of Delhivery’s internal data and market intelligence, the platform factors in seasonality, supply fluctuations, route viability, fuel prices, tolls and applicable taxes, giving the industry a clearer picture of what lies ahead.
“Having a reasonable estimate of freight pricing is key to reducing overall logistics costs and increasing revenues,” said Rohan Anand, Head of Data Science at Delhivery. “We want to bring structured information to a market that has operated largely on fragmented insights.”
The platform provides pricing for both open and closed container vehicle types and will be accessible to shippers, freight brokers and third-party logistics operators. According to Delhivery, this wider access will help customers benchmark prices, plan budgets more efficiently and negotiate freight rates using credible, market-wide data rather than disparate quotes.
Kapil Bharati, Chief Technology Officer at Delhivery, added that the company hopes to continuously refine the index through industry feedback. “As more partners contribute data, the accuracy and coverage of Freight Index One will only deepen,” he said.
This is the initial rollout phase, and Delhivery expects the platform to evolve rapidly as adoption grows.
At a time when freight costs swing with everything from festivals to fuel hikes, Freight Index One could become a guiding compass, helping transporters plan better, reduce wasteful spending, and ultimately build a smarter, more predictable trucking ecosystem in India.
