Mormugao Port Authority to ink 24 MoUs worth ₹3,000 crore at IMW 2025, showcasing Goa’s maritime growth vision.

In a major boost to India’s maritime sector, Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) will sign 24 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth ₹3,000 crore during the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025. The five-day event will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Nesco Goregaon, Mumbai, from October 27 to 31.
Announcing the plans at a press conference in Panaji on October 15, Dr N. Vinodkumar, Chairperson of MPA, said the agreements will cover critical initiatives, including berth renovation and solar projects at the port. “IMW 2025 is expected to create over ₹10 lakh crore in investment opportunities and will position India as a global maritime power. This is aligned with the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways’ Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Maritime Vision 2047,” he said.
The event is set to be a global investment and innovation hub with participation from over 100 countries, more than one lakh delegates, and 500 exhibitors. Over 250 international experts will address various sessions, including country and state forums, investor roundtables, and strategic dialogues.
Dr. Vinodkumar highlighted that Mormugao Port will soon host container vessels, enhancing Goa’s connectivity with major ports such as Mumbai and Mundra Port. “MPA is already a certified green port, generating 3 MW of solar power to meet 100% of its needs. We’re adding another 2 MW plant to support the upcoming cruise terminal,” he added. MPA recently became the first port in India to receive Green Port Certification from the Centre of Excellence on Environmental, Social and Governance and Circularity. Plans are also underway to introduce 5G technology, transforming the port into a smart hub.
Goa will host a state session on October 27 to showcase its maritime potential. MPA will present its modernisation efforts, cruise terminal development, and sustainability initiatives at a dedicated pavilion.
IMW 2025, the flagship event of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, aims to drive collaboration, strengthen international partnerships, and accelerate India’s maritime transformation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to deliver the keynote address at the Global Maritime CEO Forum during the summit.
The MPA has already kickstarted outreach across Goa to build public and stakeholder engagement. In September 2025, the port hosted a curtain-raiser roadshow in Panaji attended by Pramod Sawant, Chief Minister of Goa, and Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Transport, Industries, Trade and Commerce, Goa.
Vinayak Rao, Deputy Chairperson of MPA, was also present at the press conference, underlining the port’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in shaping Goa’s maritime future.
