Govt launches ECEH pilot projects to ease logistics and compliance for small exporters and promote cross-border e-commerce.

The government has rolled out the E-Commerce Export Hubs (ECEHs) initiative to empower Indian SMEs, artisans, and small businesses by simplifying export logistics and regulatory procedures. These hubs will offer integrated services, including customs clearance, packaging, warehousing, and certification, at a single location to facilitate seamless cross-border trade.
Five ECEH pilot projects are currently proposed, with some expected to be developed directly by logistics service providers. These hubs aim to reduce costs, ease re-import processes, and enhance export efficiency through streamlined operations.
Complementary measures include an increase in courier export value limits to ₹10 lakh, Duty Drawback and RoDTEP benefits for courier-mode shipments, and the establishment of 1,013 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs) for SME support. Additionally, the Trade Connect platform and outreach initiatives under DGFT are helping exporters access global trade resources.
The Reserve Bank of India has also proposed easing compliance for small-value exports under EDPMS, allowing quarterly self-declarations for shipping bill closure. These initiatives collectively support India’s vision of expanding its digital trade footprint and global e-commerce reach.
