Piyush Goyal meets Export Promotion Councils to discuss trade opportunities and resilience amid global disruptions.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess the evolving global trade environment and explore emerging opportunities. The session brought together Export Promotion Councils and industry bodies to deliberate on challenges and strategies amid ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
Despite disruptions like the Red Sea crisis, the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war, and tensions in the Gulf, India achieved record exports exceeding USD 820 billion in FY 2024–25. Goyal credited this milestone to the resilience and dedication of Indian exporters, noting a 6% growth over the previous fiscal.
The Minister also briefed attendees on progress toward a Bilateral Trade Agreement with the US, underscoring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s early commitment to the pact during his February 2025 meeting with President Trump. He stressed that the government is approaching the agreement with caution and strategic foresight.
Goyal highlighted India’s increasing global reputation as a trusted manufacturing hub and reliable trade partner, which could attract global supply chain leaders and boost job creation. Industry representatives raised sector-specific concerns and called for proactive policy support. The government reaffirmed its commitment to providing a stable and supportive trade environment.
Officials from the Commerce Ministry and various line ministries were also present at the meeting.
