JSW Infrastructure signs concession agreement for new cargo berth at VO Chidambaranar Port.
JSW Infrastructure’s subsidiary, JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal, has signed a concession agreement with the VO Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tamil Nadu for developing and mechanising North Cargo Berth-III (NCB-III).
The agreement, finalised on July 2, 2024, involves constructing a berth with a capacity of 7 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) for handling dry bulk cargo on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis.
The new berth aims to enhance the port’s capacity to manage bulk products, strengthening JSW’s market share on the East Coast of India. The project will leverage JSW’s expertise in handling various cargoes, including dry bulk, coal, limestone, gypsum, rock phosphate, and copper concentrate.
Strategically positioned to facilitate access to a robust hinterland, the development will support the port’s capabilities in managing a wide range of commodities. This initiative underscores JSW Infrastructure’s commitment to expanding its operational footprint and improving cargo handling efficiency at key Indian ports.
