Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa of India, underscores the pivotal role of drone integration in driving inclusive growth, positioning India as a leader in the Industry 4.0 revolution and a global drone technology hub in Amritkaal. Addressing the Bharat Drone Manthan 2024 event, Kant emphasised India’s vision to become a $35 trillion economy by 2047, with drones playing a crucial role in this trajectory.
Kant outlined India’s ambitious targets for the drone sector, aiming to capture at least 10 percent of the global market share, equating to a $10 billion economy in the drone industry. He lauded the government’s initiatives like the PLI scheme, fostering a vibrant startup ecosystem to propel this growth.
Speaking on technological advancements, Kant emphasised the integration of sensors and 5G in drones, revolutionising their capabilities. These advancements enable real-time data collection, enhancing decision-making across industries. He stressed the need for a holistic approach, including rigorous testing and continuous monitoring, to ensure the reliability and efficiency of drone solutions.
Furthermore, Kant highlighted the pivotal role of artificial intelligence, robotics, and cloud technologies in shaping the future of drones. He envisioned drones evolving into intelligent flying robots, capable of autonomous flight and real-time data analysis, bolstered by cloud-based platforms for streamlined operations.
Piyush Srivastava, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, echoed Kant’s sentiments, emphasising India’s potential to capture a significant share of the global drone market. He discussed government initiatives like the SVAMITVA scheme and the Drone Didi Initiative, aimed at empowering women-led self-help groups through drone technology.
Srivastava highlighted the government’s role as a facilitator and regulator, implementing policies to ease business operations and promote innovation in the drone sector. He emphasised the importance of manufacturing drones domestically and integrating UTM for efficient airspace management.
The event, supported by PHDCCI’s annual sponsors, witnessed enthusiastic participation from industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Sanjeev Agrawal, President of PHDCCI, expressed optimism about the transformative potential of drone technology and its impact on various sectors.
Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, Executive Director of PHDCCI, outlined India’s ambitious targets for the drone industry, emphasising the need for collaborative efforts to achieve these goals. He expressed confidence in meeting these targets, given the supportive policies and industry demand.
