The Air India Group, which includes Air India, Air India Express, AIX Connect, and Vistara, is set to welcome a new aircraft approximately every six days until the close of 2024, according to Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson.
This expansion coincides with the Tata Group’s consolidation of its airline business, following its takeover of the Air India Group in January 2022.
Earlier this year, Air India placed orders for 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, valued at $70 billion. Deliveries of these new planes will commence in November. The merger of Air India Express and AIX Connect is nearing completion, with legal processes expected to finalise the merger by March next year.
The group plans to double its market share in domestic and short-haul international sectors over the next five years, leveraging its integrated network and cross-feeding capabilities.
