Etihad Airways, the UAE’s national carrier, has added a new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner to its fleet. The aircraft arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport on October 13 and commenced passenger operations on October 15 after inspection by Etihad’s engineering team. This delivery coincides with the three-year anniversary of Etihad’s receipt of its last Boeing 787-10 on October 13, 2020.
Four Boeing 787 Dreamliners are expected to be delivered this year. Etihad noted that these new aircraft offer up to 25 percent greater fuel efficiency compared to other similar-sized planes.
Recently, the airline inaugurated routes to Dusseldorf, Copenhagen, and Osaka. It is also increasing frequencies on various routes, including a second daily flight to Kuala Lumpur from January 15, 2024, providing passengers with 14 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and the Malaysian capital. Etihad is further expanding its long-haul services with plans to operate a four-times-weekly service to Boston from March 31, 2024, adding to its existing U.S. destinations and services to Toronto, Canada. The airline is also preparing for a phased move of its operations to the new Terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport, commencing next month.
