Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a multi-modal logistics park and an industrial area in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, through a virtual ceremony on Monday, emphasising their pivotal role in boosting the state’s industrial development.
The newly inaugurated industrial area, known as Vikram Udyogpuri, has already attracted investments amounting to nearly Rs 4,200 crore from 39 units. Six of these industries are already operational, while others are in discussions with the state government regarding their investment plans. Vikram Udyogpuri spans over 458 hectares and has garnered interest from prominent companies such as PepsiCo India, Amul, Ashirvad Pipes, Symbiotic Life, Karnataka Antibiotics, Yashoda Linen, and Srinivas Pharma.
Addressing the significance of these developments, Prime Minister Modi stated that Vikram Udyogpuri and the multi-modal logistics park would significantly contribute to the industrial growth of Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain MP Anil Firojiya mentioned that the Aditya Birla Group is considering an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in Ujjain, adding that several industries are exploring opportunities in the city.
Rajesh Rathod, Executive Director of MP Industrial Development Corporation Indore, hailed the inauguration of Vikram Udyogpuri and the multi-modal logistics park as a historic moment. He highlighted that these industrial and logistics facilities would enhance the state’s industrial ecosystem, attracting further investment and creating numerous employment opportunities.
In addition to these industrial initiatives, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated academic buildings, student hostels under the PM-AJAY scheme, and the third phase of infrastructure development at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT-I).
