FAME-II boosts electric vehicles, supporting logistics sector’s transition to sustainable mobility.
The Indian Government’s FAME-II scheme, aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation, has supported the logistics sector’s shift toward sustainable mobility. Launched in 2019 with an outlay of ₹11,500 crore, the scheme offers incentives for electric vehicles (EVs), including two, three, and four-wheelers, along with electric buses and charging stations. As of October 31, 2024, over 16.15 lakh EVs have been incentivised, including 14.27 lakh e-2Ws, 1.59 lakh e-3Ws, 22,548 e-4Ws, and 5,131 e-buses.
This marks a significant transformation in India’s logistics, with the adoption of electric vehicles helping reduce carbon emissions and fuel dependence. Additionally, 10,985 EV public charging stations have been sanctioned, benefiting the logistics sector by enabling smoother EV operations. With ₹8,844 crore spent, including ₹6,577 crore for subsidies, the scheme supports India’s ambition to drive a cleaner, greener logistics ecosystem.
