India’s air cargo expansion and sustainable logistics practices were key discussion points at the FICCI Summit on Gati Shakti, held on March 24, 2025, at FICCI Federation House, New Delhi. Vipin Vohra, Chairman of Continental Carriers, outlined the nation’s vision to handle 10 million metric tons of air cargo by 2030.
Vohra highlighted the importance of establishing dedicated air cargo hubs, expanding processing zones, and offering incentives for freighter operations to improve efficiency and global trade connectivity. He also underscored the role of technology-driven solutions like AI, blockchain, and customs automation in streamlining logistics.
Addressing sustainability, Vohra called for adopting green fuels, carbon-neutral warehousing, and digitalisation to create a cleaner, more cost-effective logistics ecosystem. He emphasised that integrating PM Gati Shakti with the National Logistics Policy will help India emerge as a global logistics leader while ensuring environmentally responsible growth.
