Qatar Cargo adds another Boeing 777-200 freighter to its fleet, marking one of Boeing’s initial 777 cargo aircraft deliveries this year.
Qatar Cargo has expanded its fleet by acquiring another Boeing 777-200 freighter, representing one of Boeing’s early deliveries of such cargo aircraft this year. Amidst Boeing’s challenges with delivery timelines, Qatar Cargo’s new aircraft, designated as A7-BTB, began commercial activities on April 16 subsequent to its transit from Boeing’s manufacturing facility in Everett.
The new freighter has already been deployed on routes to India and Europe, servicing destinations like Mumbai, Delhi, and Amsterdam. With this addition, Qatar Cargo now operates a total of 28 Boeing 777-200F aircraft, fulfilling its existing order with Boeing.
Despite challenges in Boeing’s delivery schedule, Qatar Cargo remains committed to expanding its fleet, having placed an order for 34 of Boeing’s new 777-8F, with options for 16 more. Boeing’s delivery slowdown has been attributed to various factors, including reported shortages of the GE90 turbofans used in the twinjet aircraft.
While Boeing navigates supply chain constraints, the aviation industry closely monitors delivery timelines and production schedules. Despite the delivery challenges, Boeing managed to deliver 83 aircraft in the first quarter, down from 130 in the same period last year.
