Maersk opens a 10-hectare distribution center in Calamba, Laguna, marking its largest facility in the Philippines.
Maersk, through its Maersk Contract Logistics division, recently inaugurated its largest Philippine distribution center in Calamba, Laguna, a significant expansion intended to streamline supply chain efficiency in Southern Luzon.
Attending the inauguration were Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Cristina A. Roque, who praised the new facility, named Maersk Optimus Distribution Center, as a vital step in enhancing trade within the region, especially for Bicol and CALABARZON.
With a 76,000-pallet capacity and 75 docks, the center will serve as a key logistics hub equipped with a Fleet Operational Control Centre (FOCC) to optimise trucking operations. The facility aims for LEED certification, incorporating energy-efficient technologies for sustainable operations.
SP Tan, Head of Maersk Contract Logistics Philippines, highlighted Optimus’s strategic role in serving industries from consumer goods to automotive. Secretary Roque emphasised that the new facility would reduce logistics costs and foster economic growth across Calabarzon and Southern Luzon, aligning with the government’s vision for a competitive and connected “New Philippines.”
