India’s logistics sector set for a major boost with LEADS 2024 launch, highlighting sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity.
The Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, unveiled the “Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2024” report in New Delhi, emphasising the need for state-specific logistics strategies and public-private partnerships to enhance investment potential. He urged states to prioritise multi-modal hubs and streamline land allocation for infrastructure development.
Goyal advocated adopting the LEAD framework—Longevity, Efficiency, Accessibility, and Digitalization—for transforming logistics and advancing India towards the 2047 vision of a developed nation. He also stressed integrating AI, machine learning, and data analytics into logistics processes and promoting gender inclusivity and workforce diversity.
LEADS 2024 evaluates logistics performance across infrastructure, services, regulatory environment, and sustainable logistics, identifying achievers and fast movers among states. Coastal achievers include Gujarat and Maharashtra, while Assam and Delhi lead among northeastern states and UTs, respectively.
The event also celebrated the Logistics Excellence, Advancement, and Performance Shield (LEAPS 2024) awards, recognising contributions across sectors like air freight, warehousing, and e-commerce logistics. Additionally, Goyal launched a GatiShakti course and a report on logistics cost assessment, marking a significant step toward reducing costs and boosting efficiency in the sector.
These initiatives, driven by DPIIT, aim to make India’s logistics ecosystem globally competitive, paving the way for a $32 trillion economy by 2047.
