JNPA hosts a two-day convention fostering collaboration, innovation, and workforce development across India’s major ports.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s leading port, hosted the Convention of Secretaries of Major Ports on November 29, 2024. The two-day event aimed to foster collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and workforce development within the port sector.
Inaugurated by Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairman of JNPA, the convention welcomed senior officials from major ports and the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), including Joint Secretary Sandeep Gupta, Director (PHRD) P.K. Roy, and JNPA General Manager and Secretary Manisha Jadhav.
In his address, Wagh highlighted JNPA’s commitment to innovation, saying, “This convention fosters knowledge-sharing and the adoption of best practices to elevate the port sector. At JNPA, we prioritise our workforce through international seminars, industry events, and training programs that enhance skills and recognise contributions.”
The agenda included sessions on:
- HR Challenges and Innovative Strategies: Workforce Dynamics and Leadership Development.
- Welfare and Pay Structures: Enhancing employee benefits and pay scales.
- Cross-Learning Opportunities: collaborative training and sharing operational success stories.
- Stress Management: An interactive session led by a professional psychologist.
The event also featured a guided cultural tour of the historic Elephanta Caves, providing a unique networking experience for attendees.
By hosting this initiative, JNPA reaffirms its leadership in advancing India’s port sector through innovation, inclusivity, and workforce empowerment.
