JCB, the global leader in backhoe loader and telescopic handler manufacturing, intends to export 45 percent of its construction equipment produced in India. The company is also exploring the introduction of its newly developed hydrogen combustion engine, a pioneering feat in the construction equipment industry, in India, which is its largest market outside Europe.
Furthermore, JCB is interested in manufacturing electrolysers, devices that split water into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity, to generate hydrogen for testing its zero-emission backhoe loaders. Initially, electrolysers will be produced for in-house use in the UK, with plans to commence production in India within the next 18 months. Lord Bamford, Chairman of JCB, emphasised the company’s continuous investment in India, surpassing its investments in other regions worldwide.
