Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s logistical strength in global vaccine distribution at the WHS Regional Meeting.

Speaking at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting Asia 2025 in New Delhi, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted India’s logistical prowess during the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing delegates at Bharat Mandapam, Goyal underscored the scale and speed at which India distributed nearly 300 million vaccine doses globally through the Vaccine Maitri initiative. He emphasised that despite global supply chain disruptions, India ensured timely, equitable access to critical vaccines for developing and vulnerable nations.
Goyal also pointed out that while many countries imposed export bans, India maintained open supply lines, reinforcing the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Citing Ayushman Bharat’s expansion to cover over 620 million people, he emphasised the importance of strong distribution networks in delivering healthcare benefits across vast geographies.
He detailed how India’s integrated approach — from medicines to food grains, clean water, and digital connectivity — relied heavily on robust logistics frameworks, enabling last-mile delivery even in remote regions. Goyal called for global collaboration to strengthen healthcare logistics for a healthier future.
