India aims to become a global hub for electronics, focusing on quality, competitive pricing, and resilient supply chains.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has urged the electronics industry to enhance supply chains, upgrade quality, and offer globally competitive products. Speaking at the 16th edition of ELECRAMA, organised by IEEMA, he emphasised the need to balance MSME interests with consumer benefits, warning against excessive protectionism.
Goyal highlighted India’s electronics sector’s rapid rise, now the country’s second-largest export category in 2025, up from 167th in 2015. January alone saw $3 billion in exports, and the industry is now targeting $100 billion over seven years.
He credited government initiatives like Digital India, Make in India, and Design in India for driving innovation. Stressing India’s role as ‘Vishwa Mitra’ (Global Partner), he reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to high-quality, affordable electronics for global markets, urging manufacturers to seize this opportunity.
