Gati, an Allcargo Group Company and a leader in Express Distribution and Supply Chain Solutions launched an advanced Grade A advanced mega surface transhipment centre and distribution warehouse (STCDW) at Bhiwandi on the outskirts of Mumbai. The warehouse spread over 1.48 lakh square feet, is equipped with 61 bays and dock levellers to manage approximately 200 trucks daily and a monthly throughput capacity of about 150 thousand tonnes. The Mumbai mega hub delivers operational efficiency and complete customer visibility through world-class technology.
The warehouse boasts the highest standards of construction quality, cutting-edge technology, and a highly skilled workforce to offer its customers the expertise of express cargo distribution operations, supply chain visibility, reduced dwell time, and timely deliveries. With 276 people-strong workforce, Gati’s warehouse is a mega distribution hub for Mumbai and Navi Mumbai that will serve short-haul or regional distribution and consolidate-sort-dispatch of long-haul loads for the rest of the country.
The Mumbai hub complies with green norms and has material handling facilities, integrated warehousing and distribution mechanisms, and advanced safety features. Gati has deployed battery-operated hand pallet trolleys at the facility to ensure operational efficiency and steel pallets, instead of plastic or wooden, to boost the environmental sustainability quotient of the facility. The STCDW has planned a solarisation facility to generate 150 KW of power. An AI-powered 24×7 tracking system offers real-time visibility of cargo operations.
The facility also has Gati Niwas and a hostel that offer a convenient, safe, and hygienic stay for the Gati Associates, resident team members, and handlers. It also has a dedicated lounge for drivers.
Mumbai STCDW launch is a part of Gati’s plan to set up twelve modern, automated and environmentally friendly Surface Transhipment Centres (STCs). The company plans to roll out STCs in Bengaluru, Indore, Hyderabad, and Kolkata after launching advanced hubs at Farukh Nagar (Gurugram), Guwahati, Nagpur, and Mumbai. In addition, as part of the GATI ESG initiatives, Gati aims to convert its entire pickup and delivery fleet of more than 2500 vehicles into alternative fuel vehicles by 2025.
