DP World finalises its acquisition of Cargo Services Far East, enhancing its global logistics capabilities with the addition of a market leader.
DP World has successfully acquired Cargo Services Far East, a prominent global supply chain provider headquartered in Hong Kong. This acquisition strengthens DP World’s logistics network, which now employs over 115,000 people across 800 global locations.
Cargo Services, founded in 1989, is renowned for its comprehensive origin services and logistics solutions, including ocean and air freight, warehousing, and specialized cruise logistics. The integration of Cargo Services, with its extensive experience and global reach, aligns with DP World’s strategy to enhance its freight forwarding capabilities.
By the end of the year, DP World plans to operate over 200 freight forwarding offices, covering up to 95 percent of global trade flows. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO of DP World, highlighted the strategic benefits of this acquisition, which will bolster the company’s technology, logistics portfolio, and infrastructure. John Lau, Group Managing Director of Cargo Services, will continue with DP World in a senior leadership role to ensure a smooth transition and integration of the new capabilities.
