The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has introduced an innovative solution to improve the movement of reefer containers, vital for transporting perishable goods. The company has extended its double-stack service to Vadodara (Varnama), creating a seamless connection to Nhava Sheva (JNPA) port, even before the direct Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) link is operational.
This new system allows for double-stack reefer containers to be transported from Mega MMLP ICD Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Varnama, where they are then reconfigured into single-stack trains for JNPA. The development is expected to increase cargo volumes and expedite the evacuation process from inland areas to the port, greatly enhancing cold chain logistics and driving greater efficiency and reliability for the industry.
