Shri Sunil Barthwal’s visit to the Netherlands strengthens maritime, trade, semiconductor, and startup collaborations.

Commerce Secretary Shri Sunil Barthwal visited the Netherlands from April 24–26, 2025, to deepen bilateral trade and economic ties. The visit underscored India’s strategic engagement with the Netherlands across sectors including ports, semiconductors, and innovation.
Key highlights included meetings with Dutch officials and industry leaders, including Michiel Sweers, to operationalise a Joint Trade and Investment Committee (JTIC). A CEO Roundtable, attended by 40 business leaders, focused on synergies in renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, and urban development. The Embassy also showcased India’s One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.
At the Port of Rotterdam, Barthwal discussed enhancing cooperation in port modernisation, green shipping, and digitalisation, laying the foundation for a Green and Digital Corridor with Indian ports. He also explored avenues for exporting green hydrogen from India to Europe.
In Veldhoven, the Commerce Secretary engaged with ASML’s CEO to strengthen semiconductor collaboration under India’s Semiconductor Mission. Joint Secretary Shri Saket Kumar further discussed innovation and startup ecosystem partnerships with Dutch counterparts.
The visit injected renewed momentum into Indo-Dutch economic collaboration.
