CMA CGM Air Cargo, the French airline, started flying to Shanghai Pudong International Airport last week. It will fly an Airbus 330-200 freighter to China four times a week. In addition, the airline currently operates a Boeing 777F from Paris to Hong Kong five times a week.
The air cargo carrier owned by CMA CGM group was launched in March 2021. Besides China, it flies to Chicago and Miami in the US from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG). Moreover, it has plans to extend its services to Seoul and Bangkok from the French capital.
The airline had begun leasing out its freighters after a decline in air cargo demand after March 2022. Along with other carriers, CMA CGM Air Cargo introduced a route to China after the East Asian country eased its covid protocols.
Further, Etihad, Cathay Pacific, Hainan, and Air China have added more capacity and freighters to Chinese cities like Hong Kong and Shanghai. Lufthansa also mentioned its plans to add more flights to China, Hong Kong, and Chengdu.
