Chapman Freeborn, who witnessed a 30 per cent year-on-year jump in cargo revenues, has increased its Africa team by three times since 2021 and moved its regional operations to a larger office in Johannesburg this month. This comes ahead of the charter specialist’s fiftieth anniversary in May this year.
Sharon Vaz-Arab is heading the expansion of its African product offering, including live animal (AVI), cargo charter, and on-board courier (OBC) products, as the charter broker looks to cross boundaries beyond South Africa towards the whole of sub-Saharan Africa in 2023. Their OBC product aims to target the sector’s growing need for time-sensitive critical hand-carry shipments that are faster than a charter or a courier.
Chapman Freeborn has increased short-term and medium-term block charters and the development of its Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) leasing product to support the growing demand for automotive imports, oil and gas, and energy in Africa.
