Kempegowda International Airport’s mango exports hit 822 MT in 2024, marking a 20 percent increase.
Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has successfully wrapped up its mango export season, shipping 822 Metric Tonnes (MT) of mangoes in 2024, a significant 20 percent increase from last year. This year, BLR Airport handled 2.7 million pieces of mangoes, reflecting a 59 percent rise in volume compared to the previous season.
The airport’s extensive export network to over 60 international destinations, including major hubs like Chicago (ORD), Seattle (SEA), Dubai (DXB), London (LHR), and Houston (IAH), played a pivotal role in this success. Notably, exports to US destinations surged, with significant volumes sent to Washington Dulles (IAD), Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW), and San Francisco (SFO).
Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport (BIAL), highlighted the role of BLR Airport’s advanced cold storage facility, WFS BLR Coolport, in maintaining the quality of the mangoes throughout the supply chain. “This achievement underscores our position as a premier gateway for Indian mango exports,” he stated.
BLR Airport continues to bolster its logistical capabilities, strategic partnerships, and support for India’s agricultural sector, solidifying its role as a key player in the export of high-quality fresh produce and a catalyst for economic growth and trade development.
