Kempegowda International Airport announced on Thursday that it has retained its position as India’s leading airport for exporting perishables for the fourth consecutive year. The airport achieved a total of 63,188 metric tons of perishable cargo exports for the year ending March 2024, representing an impressive 18 percent increase compared to the previous year.
This growth underscores the airport’s crucial role in supporting India’s perishable exports, which include a wide range of goods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and seafood. The airport’s efficient handling facilities, state-of-the-art cold storage infrastructure, and strategic location have been pivotal in maintaining its top position.
Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Strategy and Development Officer at Kempegowda International Airport, attributed this success to the dedicated efforts of the entire team and the support of various stakeholders. “Our consistent performance highlights our commitment to excellence and our pivotal role in boosting India’s perishable export sector,” he stated.
The airport’s advancements in logistics and cargo handling have significantly contributed to reducing transit times and maintaining the quality of perishable goods. This has enhanced the competitiveness of Indian perishables in global markets, benefiting farmers, exporters, and the overall economy.
As the demand for high-quality perishable goods continues to grow globally, Kempegowda International Airport is set to further strengthen its capabilities and expand its infrastructure to meet future challenges and opportunities in the sector.
