Amazon and Tata Motors launch India’s largest e-commerce electric-truck rollout.

Amazon and Tata Motors have announced a collaboration to deploy 3,000 electric trucks across Amazon’s transportation network in India, marking the largest electric-truck deployment by an e-commerce company in the country. The first batch was flagged off in Delhi by H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel. Under the arrangement, Tata Motors will supply the trucks while Amazon’s carrier partners will own and operate them.
The initial rollout begins in Delhi during the festive season, using light- and medium-duty electric trucks across Amazon’s middle-mile network. The next phase will expand to national highways, including the 2,800-km Delhi-Bengaluru-Chennai corridor, supported by charging infrastructure developed with Yahhvi. The rollout follows Delhi’s 2026 EV Policy, which grants the first 1,000 privately owned medium-duty electric trucks registered within three months round-the-clock city access for a decade.
Kumaraswamy said the collaboration reflected sustained demand for electric trucks made in India, backed by schemes such as PM E-DRIVE. Amazon currently operates more than 15,000 electric vehicles across over 500 Indian cities as part of its 2040 net-zero goal.
