Amazon India has announced the launch of its first-ever floating store on the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar. In line with their commitment to providing reliable and convenient delivery experiences, Amazon India’s ‘I Have Space’ store will operate on the houseboat ‘Selec Town,’ owned by Srinagar-based Murtaza Khan Kashi. This initiative aims to empower small businesses and meet the challenges faced by customers residing on and around Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake.
Murtaza, who owns the houseboat as his primary business, decided to participate in Amazon’s ‘I Have Space’ program to generate additional income and supplement the seasonal earnings from tourists. With this unique setup, he will now facilitate daily package deliveries to customers on houseboats, eliminating the need for them to travel to nearby shops for collecting their packages via shikaras.
Karuna Shankar Pande, Director of Amazon Logistics India, expressed excitement over this milestone, which enhances delivery efficiency and creates meaningful opportunities for individuals while empowering Amazon’s delivery network.
