Amazon launches three new fulfilment centres to boost delivery speed and create jobs ahead of the festive season.
Amazon India has introduced three new fulfilment centres in Delhi NCR, Guwahati, and Patna, aiming to enhance delivery efficiency in North and East India ahead of the festive season. These centres, part of Amazon’s growing network, will help over 2.5 lakh local sellers reach customers faster, while generating thousands of job opportunities.
The facilities are equipped with energy-efficient systems and water conservation features, including rainwater collection and sewage treatment plants, according to an official release.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, expressed optimism about Amazon’s expansion, noting the benefits for local retailers and the Indian economy. Additionally, Amazon announced 110,000 seasonal job openings across major cities to accommodate festive demand. Abhinav Singh, VP of Operations, highlighted the expansion’s role in improving customer service and fostering economic growth.
Amazon’s partnership with Indian Railways further enhances nationwide delivery efficiency, supporting the government’s infrastructure goals and contributing to a 15-fold increase in parcel movement over the last five years.
