On May 2, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in New Delhi celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. Prof. Satinder Bhatia, Vice-Chancellor of IIFT, remembered the late HD Shourie, the founding Director General, on this momentous occasion. She added that he was a father figure to IIFTians, who founded the school with the motto “Excellence is a way of life.”
According to Prof. Bhatia, this is a good time to recognise people who have helped IIFT realise its founding mission and rise to the top of Indian business schools. She claimed that IIFT has accomplished many milestones and that it is assisting the country in the area of global trade. She spoke about the academic and administrative changes made at the IIFT campuses in Delhi and Kolkata and predicted that the recently inaugurated Kakinada campus will soon reach eminence. She also mentioned the numerous academic and administrative partnerships that IIFT has to keep moving in the direction of its vision and goal. As a result, she claimed, IIFT has started to attract businesses, students, and other interested parties.
Since its founding in 1963, IIFT has actively pursued all opportunities to develop itself as a recognised centre of excellence in global trade and commerce. In addition to being the top business school in the nation, it has expanded its function throughout this time from being a think tank institution to a significant reservoir of information in international trade. In the first two decades of the new millennium, the IIFT expanded at a phenomenal rate. During the event, VC and IIFT released the commemorative issue of Foreign Trade Review (FTR) Journal.
