The upcoming greenfield airport at Bhavanapadu village in Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, is ready to lay the foundation stone this month. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will do the honours as the port authorities have received most environmental clearances.
Phase I, which includes a bulk cargo berth and three general cargo berths, will cover 500 acres. Hyderabad-based Vishwa Samudra Holdings led a joint venture that won the contract for ₹2,949 crores for procurement, engineering, and construction from the state government. Andhra Pradesh government plans to allocate ₹261 crores for land acquisition for the development of Phase I.
Animal husbandry minister Sidari Appala Raju said the land for the rehabilitation colony will be acquired by the third week of this month. He further instructed all officials to complete all formalities and prepare for the foundation stone laying ceremony.
