Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Logistics, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), chaired the meeting on February 4th, 2023, in New Delhi, to evaluate the progress made by Social Sector Ministries in embracing the PM GatiShakti NMP. The meeting was attended by 14 ministries and departments, including the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Panchayati Raj, the Department of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The Ministries of Ayush and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, who have recently joined the NMP, were also part of the meeting.
The Special Secretary stressed the need to embrace the PM GatiShakti NMP due to its significance in unified planning and aligned implementation of infrastructure and social sector schemes. They applauded the creative implementation of the NMP platform in planning, implementation, and monitoring projects to improve accessibility and last-mile connectivity to hospitals, healthcare centers, Anganwadi, and schools for public welfare.
The government is implementing a new approach for better decision-making and resource utilisation through the combined efforts of all ministries. The DPIIT organized two separate meetings to discuss the benefits of PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP), data integration, and the challenges several ministries and departments face.
