Union Minister Piyush Goyal meets Spain’s First Vice-President and Industry Minister on July 13, 2026, addresses the India–Spain Business Forum and engages with ICEX to expand bilateral trade, investment and innovation cooperation.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal commenced the Spain leg of his official visit on July 13, 2026, holding a series of high-level engagements aimed at deepening the India-Spain economic partnership. The visit coincides with both countries commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations and celebrating the India-Spain Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and Artificial Intelligence 2026.
Shri Piyush Goyal held a bilateral meeting with Carlos Cuerpo Caballero, First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, focused on strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations, enhancing business cooperation, promoting innovation-led growth and identifying new areas for economic collaboration across renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, infrastructure and innovation. Both sides agreed to make full use of the Fast Track Mechanism to facilitate new investments and looked forward to convening the next session of the India-Spain Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation later this year. Goyal also met Jordi Hereu Boher, Minister of Industry and Tourism of Spain, for discussions on industrial cooperation, sustainable manufacturing, technology partnerships and collaboration in clean energy, mobility, automotive, railways and smart infrastructure. Both sides welcomed the C-295 programme as a flagship example of industrial collaboration under the Make in India initiative.
The India-Spain Business Forum, jointly organised by FICCI, the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, CEOE and ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, brought together senior government officials, industry leaders and business representatives from both countries. Welcome remarks were delivered by Inmaculada Riera, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Spain; Marta Blanco, President of the International Relations Committee of CEOE; Anant Goenka, President of FICCI; R. Mukundan, President of CII; and Jayant N. Khobragade, Ambassador of India to Spain and Andorra. The keynote session featured addresses by Jordi García Brustenga, Secretary of State for Industry of Spain, and Goyal, who highlighted India’s emergence as the world’s fastest-growing major economy and invited Spanish companies to expand their presence across manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies and innovation. Goyal also engaged with senior officials of ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, Spain’s trade and investment promotion agency, to discuss measures for strengthening bilateral investment flows and facilitating business linkages.
