The Department of Posts and Flipkart India sign an agreement to deploy India Post’s network of over 1.6 lakh post offices for e-commerce parcel delivery across the country.

The Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications and Flipkart India Private Limited signed an Agreement for Last Mile Parcel Delivery Services in New Delhi on May 22, 2026. The agreement was signed by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager of the Parcel Directorate at the Department of Posts, and Harvinder Kapur, Director (Commercial) at Flipkart India Private Limited, in the presence of Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager of the Parcel and CCS Directorate at the Department of Posts, and Dippy Vankani, Director (Corporate Affairs) at Flipkart India Private Limited. Under the agreement, the Department of Posts will provide last mile delivery services for Flipkart shipments across urban, semi-urban and rural areas of India, including remote and underserved regions. Services covered include delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels, OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking.
Through the partnership, Flipkart will gain access to India Post’s network of over 1.6 lakh post offices, enabling wider market reach and improved delivery serviceability particularly in rural and remote locations. The agreement is expected to strengthen the parcel business of the Department of Posts by enhancing utilisation of its existing delivery infrastructure and aligns with the Department’s broader objective of transforming itself into a leading logistics organisation supporting India’s growing digital economy.
