Premium artisanal D2C ice cream brands are driving summer growth, with ColdStar Logistics highlighting a shift toward high-value purchases in metro and Tier I cities.

Urban consumers are increasingly favouring brands like EatNoto, Minus 30 and Skei Ice Cream for their innovative, health-focused offerings. While legacy players such as Amul and Kwality Wall’s remain strong in smaller markets, premium brands are gaining momentum among younger city buyers. Rising demand for protein-rich and experimental flavours is further reshaping consumption trends.
Premium artisanal direct-to-consumer (D2C) ice cream brands are emerging as key growth drivers this summer, according to insights shared by ColdStar Logistics. The data highlights a notable shift in consumer behaviour, particularly across metro and Tier I cities, where buyers are opting for higher-value purchases from niche brands despite reduced buying frequency.
Brands such as EatNoto, Minus 30 and Skei Ice Cream are witnessing faster replenishment cycles and strong repeat demand through their D2C platforms and quick-commerce integrations. The growth is largely attributed to innovative flavours, health-focused offerings, and premium packaging. Protein-enriched ice creams, especially those offering 15–20 grams of protein per serving, are gaining traction among urban, fitness-conscious consumers.
ColdStar’s data indicates a clear market divide: while legacy brands like Amul and Kwality Wall’s continue to dominate in Tier II and III markets due to price sensitivity, premium brands are driving faster sales velocity in urban centres. This trend is particularly visible among consumers aged 25–40.
City-wise, Mumbai leads in overall consumption, while Bengaluru surpasses Delhi in premium product demand. Delhi NCR reflects intense competition across segments, whereas Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune are emerging as strong regional and secondary growth hubs.
The market is also seeing rising demand for experimental flavours and formats, including paan-flavoured bars and mango-themed novelty packs. Premium pricing, ranging between ₹150 and ₹400 per unit, is increasingly becoming mainstream.
Operationally, the summer season poses significant challenges, with demand surging up to four times alongside extreme temperatures. ColdStar emphasises strict temperature control protocols to maintain product integrity across the supply chain.
