The Dedicated Freight Corridor handles a record 892 trains in 24 hours, boosting supply chain efficiency and speed.

The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) has reached a landmark operational peak, successfully managing 892 interchanging trains. This achievement represents the highest volume of cargo movement transitioned between the specialised freight corridors and five conventional railway zones in a single day.
The new benchmark eclipses the previous record of 865 trains established on 4 January 2026. This consistent performance reflects the network’s ability to handle high-density traffic without compromising safety or speed.
By migrating heavy-haul cargo including coal, cement, and agricultural products to dedicated tracks, the rail network has significantly reduced the burden on traditional lines. This separation directly facilitates the more punctual operation of passenger services.
The milestone was driven by a digital-first approach, utilising real-time traffic management and automated signalling. These tools allowed for tighter headways between trains, ensuring fuel-efficient and uninterrupted transit across heavily loaded sections.
The Ministry of Railways noted that such streamlined interchanges are vital for lowering national logistics costs and ensuring the rapid delivery of essential commodities, thereby supporting industrial growth.
With additional high-volume days, the DFC continues to demonstrate its role as a critical pillar in India’s modernised, data-driven transport ecosystem.
