Paradip Port to sign ₹1.5 lakh crore agreements at India Maritime Week, boosting shipbuilding, green energy and tourism.

In a major push for India’s maritime growth, Paradip Port in Odisha is set to sign agreements worth ₹1.5 lakh crore during the upcoming India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai. The deals will cover shipbuilding, ship repair, port modernisation, smart port initiatives, business development, and green hydrogen projects, officials announced on Tuesday.
The five-day event, hosted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will take place from October 27 to 31. Touted as one of the largest maritime conclaves in the world, India Maritime Week will bring together over 100 maritime nations, 200 international experts, and 500 leading maritime industry players. The conclave aims to foster technology exchange, investment partnerships, and strategic collaborations.
Notably, Paradip Port has been recently notified as a Green Hydrogen Hub, joining Tuticorin and Kandla as the only three Indian ports with this distinction. This strategic status is expected to accelerate investments in green energy and sustainable maritime infrastructure.
The Government of Odisha will play a key role at the conclave, hosting a dedicated session on the state’s maritime development. It has already signed MoUs with the Paradip Port Authority for key projects, including the Bahuda Port development and a shipbuilding centre in Kendrapara district, expected to drive job creation and regional economic growth.
Furthering its maritime tourism ambitions, Odisha will sign an MoU to develop a cruise terminal at Puri during the event. Phase 1 will focus on Puri, while Phase 2 will expand the cruise terminal to Paradip over the next 2–3 years.
To build public awareness ahead of the conclave, Paradip Port has launched creative campaigns, including sand art at Paradip Beach, hoardings, podcasts, and social media outreach, timed with Diwali festivities.
These efforts underscore a strong collaborative commitment by the Government of Odisha, Paradip Port, and the central ministry to transform the state’s maritime sector, create employment opportunities, and position India as a global maritime powerhouse.
