NTWB meet underscores role of local sourcing and digital tools in reshaping MSME logistics landscape.

At the 6th meeting of the National Traders’ Welfare Board (NTWB), held on May 20, 2025, in New Delhi, key focus areas included grassroots engagement in the proposed National Retail Trade Policy and the digital empowerment of small traders—both of which hold significant implications for India’s evolving logistics sector.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) highlighted retail trade’s role in the economy, urging inclusive input for policy development. NTWB Chairman Sunil J. Singhi emphasised enabling MSMEs through digital transformation, citing platforms like the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) as crucial for enhancing supply chain access and last-mile delivery efficiency.
He also reaffirmed government efforts to streamline regulatory processes and improve logistics infrastructure, particularly for small enterprises. The ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative was spotlighted as a driver for boosting domestic sourcing, which is expected to increase demand for efficient local logistics networks.
Board members pledged to champion local trade and digital adoption, which collectively are set to shape a more robust, accessible logistics ecosystem.
