Uber taps ONDC to launch metro ticketing and plans B2B logistics expansion, boosting India’s digital mobility landscape.

Uber India has joined the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), debuting metro ticketing via its app, starting with Delhi Metro. This marks Uber’s first step toward integrating with India’s public digital infrastructure. Through ONDC’s interoperable backend, users can now plan metro journeys, buy QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit updates on the Uber app. Payments will be processed exclusively through UPI.
While ride-hailing remains outside ONDC for now, Uber is set to enter the B2B logistics space via the platform. The rollout will begin with food delivery services, leveraging Uber’s extensive delivery network for businesses lacking their own fleets. The company plans to scale this model across sectors like e-commerce, healthcare, and grocery logistics.
This strategic move aligns with Uber’s multimodal expansion and supports ONDC’s goal of enabling seamless, trusted digital services. As ONDC’s retail transactions decline and logistics volumes plateau at 24 lakh monthly orders, Uber’s participation could reinvigorate growth in the logistics segment, fostering more integrated mobility and delivery solutions across India’s urban landscape.
