UltraTech expands EV truck fleet after a successful pilot, aiming to cut CO2 emissions by 17,000 MT annually.
UltraTech Cement is scaling up its electric vehicle (EV) fleet for logistics operations. Following a successful pilot in January 2024 with five EV trucks, the company will now deploy 100 EV trucks to transport 75,000 MT of clinker monthly. The trucks will cover a 400-km round trip between its Dhar Cement Works in Madhya Pradesh and Dhule Cement Works in Maharashtra.
This initiative is a significant step in UltraTech’s sustainability efforts, reducing transport emissions by an estimated 17,000 MT of CO2 annually. UltraTech also plans to expand EV truck usage across additional routes and is piloting similar projects at other manufacturing units.
Committed to its Net Zero goal by 2050, UltraTech aims to deploy 500 EV trucks by June 2025 under the eFAST initiative, building on its earlier adoption of CNG and LNG vehicles.
