Noida Airport’s cargo hub, India’s largest, set to be ready by November end.
The integrated multi-modal cargo hub (MMCH) at Noida International Airport (NIA) is rapidly progressing and is expected to be operational by the end of November. “The ground filling work is complete, and the foundation work is underway. It will be ready by November,” stated Arun Vir Singh, CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the Uttar Pradesh government body overseeing the project.
Spanning 80 acres, this cargo hub, the largest in India, will offer efficient intermodal connectivity to manufacturing hubs nationwide. Developed by Air India SATS (AISATS), a joint venture between Air India Limited and Singapore Airport Terminal Services, the project began with an agreement signed in February 2023. It features an integrated cargo terminal and an Integrated Warehousing and Logistics Zone.
Designed as a versatile logistics hub, the MMCH includes a transshipment center and dedicated areas for freight forwarders and integrators, facilitating seamless road-to-road, road-to-air, and air-to-road operations. Officials confirm that the project is on schedule, currently focusing on superstructures such as pardi wall casting and pre-engineered buildings (PEBs). The final fitting phase is set for August to October 2024.
Tata Projects, the engineering, procurement, and construction partner, is overseeing the airport’s development, which is estimated to cost ₹5,700 crore. Scheduled to open by the end of 2024, the airport will initially handle 12 million passengers annually, with future expansion plans in place.
