At 36, three-time TDP MP Ram Mohan Naidu becomes one of Modi 3.0 Cabinet’s youngest ministers.
Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, a three-time Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP, has been appointed Union Minister for Civil Aviation, making him one of the youngest ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Cabinet. Naidu, who has consistently won the Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency since 2014, was sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday.
First elected at 26, Naidu secured his seat in 2014, 2019, and 2024, defeating Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) candidates each time. His vote share fluctuated from 52.9 percent in 2014 to 46.19 percent in 2019, before rising to 61.05 percent in 2024, where he defeated YSRCP’s Tilak Perada.
Son of the late Union Minister Kinjarapu Yerran Naidu, Ram Mohan Naidu boasts an impressive academic background with schooling at Delhi Public School, RK Puram, an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and an MBA from Long Island University, New York. His political journey began after his father’s death in 2012, propelling him into a successful political career.
In the 16th Lok Sabha, Naidu served on standing committees for Tourism, Home Affairs, Railways, and Welfare of Other Backward Classes. As TDP’s national general secretary, he played a pivotal role in the party’s recent electoral success, where TDP secured 16 Lok Sabha seats and its coalition partner, Jana Sena Party, won 21 seats.
Naidu, married to Sravya with whom he has a daughter, is seen as a close aide to TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu and a significant figure in the party’s strategic campaigns and governance.
