The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) reported progress in the construction of the Regional Rapid Transit System viaduct in Delhi, slated for completion by April-end..
Officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced that the construction of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) viaduct in the Delhi section is advancing, with completion expected by April-end. Track-laying activities, along with electric traction and signaling work, are currently underway in the New Ashok Nagar-Sahibabad section.
The Delhi section, comprising around 14 kilometers, is nearing completion and is anticipated to be fully operational by the end of the year. According to NCRTC officials, less than 500 meters of the viaduct remains to be constructed, which is scheduled for completion by the end of April. This section includes approximately nine kilometers of elevated tracks and five kilometers of underground tracks.
More than eight kilometers of viaduct construction have already been completed, along with the entire underground section. The three mainline RRTS stations—Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar (underground)—have taken shape, with finishing works currently in progress.
Once the Delhi section is operational, passenger movement can be established from Sarai Kale Khan to the already operational Sahibabad-Modi Nagar North section and beyond.
NCRTC officials highlighted the construction of a five-kilometer underground section in Delhi, featuring four meticulously constructed tunnels to connect Anand Vihar underground station with New Ashok Nagar RRTS station in the Delhi direction and Sahibabad RRTS station in the Ghaziabad direction. The RRTS tunnels, with a diameter of 6.5 meters, are designed to optimise space efficiently, aligning with global benchmarks for tunnels of similar design speed.
