On International Women’s Day, DTDC Express unveiled its pioneering all-women-operated branch in Mumbai. This strategic move aims to address gender disparities in the logistics sector, fostering diversity and equal opportunities for women.
Breaking gender norms, DTDC Express inaugurated its first-ever all-women-operated branch in Mumbai, celebrating International Women’s Day. The branch, located in Sakinaka, will handle a substantial monthly load of 1,20,000+ consignments, emphasising the commitment to inclusivity and gender equality.
According to the World Bank, women comprise only 40 percent of the global logistics workforce, with India reporting a mere 26 percent. Acknowledging this disparity, DTDC aims to transform into an equal-opportunity employer, starting with the launch of this groundbreaking branch.
This pioneering initiative was inaugurated by Subhashish Chakraborty, Founder and Chairman & Managing Director, Abhishek Chakraborty, Executive Director, and Arpita C. Mittra, Director, Customer Experience. The branch, entirely managed by women, symbolises the company’s dedication to narrowing gender gaps in the logistics industry.
Abhishek Chakraborty expressed confidence in the initiative, envisioning a future where diversity becomes integral to the sector. Arpita C. Mittra emphasised the significance of embracing diversity, highlighting the commitment to building an inclusive culture.
With plans for expansion to major metropolitan areas, DTDC Express aims to replicate this groundbreaking initiative, reinforcing its commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive environment within the logistics sector.
