Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the 93.2 km Kanpur Ring Road project undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on January 8. NHAI officials have expedited preparations following the ministry’s notification.
The minister’s office communicated his attendance at the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony in Rae Bareli, Kanpur, and Unnao on January 8 through email. Gadkari will commence the day by inaugurating the Lalganj-Unnao four-lane highway in Rae Bareli.
Subsequently, he will proceed to Kanpur, where he will lay the foundation stone for the ambitious Ring Road Project and inaugurate the Kanpur-Aligarh GT Road four-lane road and Chakeri-Prayagraj six-lane road.
Following this, the minister will head to Unnao to lay the foundation stone for the Unnao portion of the Ring Road and inaugurate the Unnao-Lalganj four-lane road. NHAI project directors received detailed information about the schedule via email.
Project Director Prashant Dubey confirmed the swift progress of work on the GT Road, with a 3 km stretch expected to be completed by January 4. Additionally, the railway overbridge on the Bithoor railway line is nearly finished and will open to traffic by January 4. The Railways will temporarily block the segment on January 2 to facilitate the commencement of work on three spans of the Mandhana elevated flyover.
