NPG evaluates four major infra projects to enhance multimodal logistics and regional connectivity under PM GatiShakti.

The 92nd meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) under the PM GatiShakti initiative was held in New Delhi to assess key infrastructure proposals from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the Ministry of Railways. The projects aim to strengthen multimodal connectivity, improve freight efficiency, and boost regional development.
Among the key proposals was a six/four-lane access-controlled highway bypass around Rishikesh, designed to decongest NH-34 and improve connectivity to religious and strategic locations. The railway projects include the Bina–Itarsi 4th line to cut transit time by 46 minutes, the Kasara–Manmad multi-tracking lines for energy-efficient rail movement, and the Bhusawal–Wardha 3rd & 4th lines to decongest the high-density Mumbai–Howrah corridor.
These initiatives align with PM GatiShakti’s vision of integrated infrastructure planning, emphasising last-mile connectivity and intermodal logistics. Chaired by Shri Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, the meeting highlighted how these projects will contribute to faster cargo movement, regional economic growth, and nationwide logistics optimization.
