Vincent Clerc, currently CEO of Maersk’s ocean and logistics business, will take over as CEO of the Copenhagen-based company on January 1, 2023.
“I have worked with my team for nearly seven years to change the business model, culture, digital backbone, and results to make Maersk a profitable growth company again,” Soren Skou said, adding that “now is the right time for Maersk, Vincent, and me to make this transition.”
He continued by saying, “We have never been financially stronger, and we have an inspiring and visionary plan for the continuation of our global integrator strategy, which will guide Maersk for many years to come. “I’ve known Vincent for over a decade and am confident that he is ready to take the company to the next level.”
According to Robert M. Uggla, chair of Maersk’s board of directors, Vincent Clerc has been a pivotal leader in the company’s transformation, demonstrating great strategic acumen and an ability to execute complex plans and deliver long-term shareholder value through compelling customer solutions.
Clerc stated, “I am overwhelmed by the board’s confidence in me by giving me the opportunity to lead the next stages of our transformation.” It is an honour for me to lead a company with such a rich history, strong values, and enormous potential. I am excited to take it to the next level with the leadership team and all Maersk colleagues around the world, building on the very strong foundation we established with Soren at the helm and delivering on our promises to customers, shareholders, and society at large.”
