UltraTech achieves significant water conservation, becomes five times water positive.
UltraTech Cement announced it conserved 105 million cubic metres of water in FY24, achieving five times water positivity. This includes reused, recycled, harvested, and recharged water within and beyond its premises.
The company’s water management strategies feature rainwater harvesting systems and Zero Liquid Discharge plants. Community-driven watershed projects have built 191 check dams and 97 rainwater harvesting structures, benefiting over 35,218 farmers.
UltraTech has also made notable progress in sustainability. Its net CO2 emission intensity decreased to 556 kg/tonne, and it has increased renewable energy capacity by 77 percent, aiming for 85 percent green energy by 2030. The company utilised over 33 million tonnes of recycled materials and 1.5 million tonnes of alternative fuels, becoming 3.26 times plastic negative. Biodiversity efforts include planting over 34,000 trees using the Miyawaki method.
These initiatives underscore UltraTech’s commitment to sustainable growth and community well-being.
